Good habits for the small things.
Simple care can help everyday accessories stay organized and comfortable to use. Always follow the instructions supplied with your actual item.
Start with the material.
Before cleaning, check the listing or supplier instructions for the material and finish. Leather-style describes an appearance; it does not establish genuine leather or a particular cleaning method.
Begin with a soft dry cloth. If damp cleaning is permitted, use as little moisture as needed and let the item dry naturally. Test an appropriate cleaner on an inconspicuous area first. Avoid bleach, solvents and abrasive brushes unless specifically approved.
Leave a little breathing room.
Overfilling a wallet or pouch can put pressure on seams, edges and closures. Keep frequently used items accessible and remove receipts or loose extras that no longer need to travel with you.
Close a zipper gently. If it catches, check for trapped fabric or an overfilled compartment before applying more force. Avoid pulling hardware sideways.
Store away from heat and moisture.
Keep accessories in a clean, dry place when they are not in use. Avoid prolonged direct sunlight, high heat and damp storage, which may affect color, shape or finish depending on the material.
If an item becomes wet, follow its care instructions and allow it to dry naturally. Do not assume that a wallet, belt or pouch is waterproof because it has a closed surface.
Check the little connections.
Review key rings, clips, belt fasteners and straps from time to time. Stop using a connection that appears loose or damaged. Key organizers should be used only with compatible keys.
